Camp Ritchie is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the natural beauties that our Heavenly Father has created for us. Like all privileges, camp participation carries with it important responsibilities and expectations.
Friends
We warmly welcome friends at camp.
Respect
Be respectful of the beautiful surroundings. Be appreciative and courteous to all volunteer staff. Never tamper with the camp facilities, equipment, anyone else’s suitcase, sleeping bag, or personal belongings.
All young women are expected to abide by LDS church standards while at camp. No drugs, alcohol, or tobacco are allowed. All language should be clean and kind. “Make sure your language reflects love of God and others. Say things that uplift--nothing that might be divisive, hurtful, or offensive, even as a joke. Your words can be powerful. Let them be powerful for good.” (FSY booklet) If there is a problem, parents will be called and asked to pick up their daughter from camp.
No cell phones
Or other electronic devices. There is no cell service.
No blow-dryers, flat or curling irons
There are no electrical outlets in the bathrooms or cabins. Camping hair don't care!
No money
Do not bring money or inappropriate reading material.
Food
Girls are fed well at camp. No treats from home are allowed. No food, gum, or mints in cabins because the scent attracts critters.
Lost & Found
Camp is not responsible for lost items. Please do not bring valuable items or money to camp.
Dress Code
Dress at camp is in keeping with LDS Church standards of modesty and appropriateness. “Our clothing expresses who we are. It sends messages about us, and it influences the way we and others act. When we are well groomed and modestly dressed, we can invite the companionship of the Spirit and exercise a good influence on those around us.” (Churchof JesusChrist.org)
Dress appropriately for active camp activities - some require long pants. Flip flops are ONLY allowed while showering, otherwise good athletic shoes or hiking boots are suggested. Twisted ankles due to lack of supportive shoes are a frequent medical problem. Shirts should have a sleeve. For comfort during water activities, wear modest bathing suits. Label all clothing.
Medications
All prescription and over the counter medications MUST be checked in before leaving for Camp Ritchie. Check in medications on Sunday, July 28. Medications must be in their original container with the label intact. Asthma attacks due to the high altitude are common so please bring your inhaler if you have EVER suffered from asthma. Camp Medication Form
Luggage
LABEL ALL ITEMS with camper’s name, year, and ward. Campers are permitted one duffel bag, one large garbage bag for bedding, and a day pack.Rolling suitcases are discouraged due to the rocky terrain. The large garbage bag should contain a sleeping bag, pillow, and sleeping pad. The bunks are wood so a pad is highly recommended. Keep your day-pack with you during the ride to camp. Each girl is responsible for carrying her own belongings to/from her cabin.
Mail
Everyone enjoys receiving mail, especially the girls at camp. Drop off your letters at camp check-in. Address with your daughters name, year, and day you would like it delivered.
Emergency Contact
If you need to contact anyone while attending Camp Ritchie, contact your Ward Camp Specialist and they will help you.
Transportation
All girls ride with designated leaders to and from camp. If you need to come late or leave early, you must clear your plan with a Camp Director prior to camp.
